Meet JP, a Real Progressive Voice
Are you sick and tired of the same old, back and forth bipartisan bullshit monopolizing our time, our social feeds, our very lives? Are you totally over being governed by ineffective leaders bought and paid for by huge corporate interests? Are you mad? Hurt? Scared? You have every right to feel that way. Do you want to be heard and listened to for a change? Would you like to see more everyday people stepping up to take on the challenges of leadership, whose only loyalties are to you, not to parties or special interests?
I - I refuse to refer to myself in the third person as I write up my own website - am not a politician. I am not a policy expert. Hell, with all the time I spend working just to make ends meet, I'm barely a notable presence in my community. I want to change all of that. Not just for myself, but for everyone. We have become far too disillusioned with our leadership and our institutions. We have disengaged with our communities and our civic duties as an electorate. I may not have much in the way of political capital. I probably have negative political capital. I have ideas, passion, a fighting spirit, compassion, and a damn good head for research.
I have worn many hats and lived a great deal in a relatively short life. I am a son, a brother, a husband, and a Colorado native. I have been a retail clerk, a scientist, a laboratory technician, an automotive technician. I graduated with honors in 2017 from MSU Denver with a B.S. in biochemistry and a minor in philosophy. As a student in these fields, I learned the essentials of conducting solid research and making sound logical connections between facts and data points. Currently, I am pursuing my M.S. in clinical mental health counseling, but I'm taking a little breaky from the books this year with the hope of raising a voice for The People, all of The People - no matter how they identify, where they trace their ancestry, whom they love, or what deity/deities they worship - or don't worship. It's time we take back "We the People" and make damned sure that it includes all people. My only objective is to be a humble servant to that end and a mouthpiece for my community. As an aspiring mental health practitioner, I realize that our system presents us with innumerable grave hazards to our well-being, both physical and mental. If I am to truly serve the interests and wellness of my fellow Americans, the system itself must be changed.
I don't intend to win. I hardly intend to do any real campaigning. As many of us have lost faith in the democratic underpinnings of our republic, many people elect to abstain from the vote. I request that if you plan to throw away your vote this November, throw it away on me. Simply write in "JP Lujan" exactly as seen here (do not add periods, omit the quotation marks, etc. You get the idea), and you will send a message to the politicians: "We are sick of your shit."
